Survey Resources Network

The Survey Resources Network (SRN) is a service funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to “co-ordinate and develop ESRC activities related to survey research methods”. The aim of the Network is to “provide a coherent and integrated approach to the development of skills and knowledge, the dissemination of research findings and research resources, and the promotion of best survey practice”.

SRN offers flexible and practical training in survey skills; it contributes to ESRC strategy in survey research methods; and it explores new data management processes with the intention of improving the data collection process. SRN also offers online resources including the Survey Question Bank (the successor to the ESRC Question Bank) and links to other relevant online material.

SRN is based at the University of Essex, in partnership with the Institute for Social and Economic Research, the National Centre for Social Research, the National Centre for Research Methods at the University of Southampton, the Centre for Longitudinal Studies at the Institute of Education, and the UK Data Archive.

Community Payback

Community Payback is part of the main UK government website Direct.Gov. It enables UK citizens to vote for the schemes which they would like offenders sentenced to community work to undertake in their local area/ community. The site includes general information on the work of the Parole Board and the nature and purpose of community sentences, as well as the opportunity to vote online and view public feedback.

Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an independent regulator of health and social care services in England which was created in 2009. Its remit includes NHS social care services, nursing homes, dentists and mental health services. Its website provides information on its aims and remit. It provides access to press releases and reports containing guidelines on standards in social care for professionals and assessments of quality and policy in health and social care.

YouTube EDU

This is a special section of YouTube which contains a directory of videos, film clips and channels from universities, colleges and higher education establishments worldwide. They include examples of lectures, events and course related materials covering all areas of the sciences, social sciences and humanities. It is possible to search the site by keyword, to browse by college name or to filter by country. Copyright and technical information is displayed on the website.
